The AMICE Consortium has developed the CIMOSA concept of enterprise engineering aiming at model driven enterprise operation and monitoring. Subsequently, CIMOSA has been validated in the ESPRIT Projects CIMPRES, CODE, and VOICE as well as by professional associations (IFIP/IFAC and others). independent organisations in many countries (France, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Japan ) and last but not least by the AMICE member organisations. The validation of CIMOSA is ongoing because parts of the technical documentation are still being revised and because better and more powerful computer aided modelling tools are now available.
Recently several CIMOSA related modelling tools, developed at universities and system providers have come to the market, as ARTIFEX (ARTIS). McCIM (University Karlsruhe), PACE (GPP), GT VOICE (SOMS). They have different properties and capabilities. More details are provided in Annex. A growing number of European manufacturing enterprises have CIMOSA pilot installations running in operation or being set up. National and international standardisation bodies (CEN, ISO) have started normative work to establish standards based on these concepts. The different streams of validation work are consolidated and harmonised by the CIMOSA Association, a professional society, succeeding the AMICE Consortium.
